HRH PRINCE CHARLES VISITS TOUCAL

On 9th December 2009, HRH Prince of Wales opened Weymouth College's new Construction Centre in Poundbury, Dorset.  While Prince Charles was there he also took the opportunity to visit a replica Sudanese mud hut - a Toucal.

The Toucal was constructed at the College to raise awareness of the Grace Secondary School Appeal - a project to build and then finance a school in the Sudan, which should be up and running early next year.

The hut was constructed by a number of volunteers from Weymouth College, the Grace Appeal and IPP's Bob Cottell.  Bob also supplied the wood from the 'IPP Restoring Ancient Woodland' project and then helped with the building and then thatched the hut.

It was a great day and we felt very honoured that Prince Charles took time to visit the Toucal.
